3. Communication
During school hours, 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., the phone does not ring in our classrooms. If you call during these hours you will get voice mail. Please leave a message and if necessary I will call you back as soon as possible. My number is 629-4257. I may not have an opportunity to listen to messages until after school so if you have a transportation change for your child for that day, I may not get it in time to respond. PLEASE call the office with these requests..

a. Read at home and record the number of minutes read each day.

b. Christmas program - Thursday evening, Dec. 13, 6:30 pm

e. Minnesota State Assessment Tests ( MCA ) TBA
6. Lunch - We have lunch from 11:00-11:40 each day. You are welcome to join your child for lunch. Please contact the office early that morning if you will be eating a school lunch. Adult lunches are $4.05.

1. Listen carefully, follow directions.
2. Raise your hand before speaking
3. Work quietly. Do not disturb others.
4. Respect others. Be kind with your words and actions.
5. Respect school and personal property.
6. Bring your finished assignments and a pencil to class.
8. Classroom Consequences
Call #1 Warning/Write a call on your homework sheet
Call #2 Second warning/write down calls.
Call #3 Time Out in room (10 minutes)
Call #4 Time Out in Quiet Room/Referral form minor
Call #5 See Mrs. Lorsung or Mr. LeMier/Referral form major
9. Special areas to help with at home:
a. Reading - Keep reading to your child in addition to having your child read on their own. This is especially important if your child is a struggling or reluctant reader. Research has shown that reading to children and giving them lots of practice is the most effective way to help a child succeed in school. Third grade is a critical year in a child’s reading development. The time you spend with your child now will pay off in the long run.

10. Book Orders
Book Orders will be sent home occasionally. The due date will be listed on the assignment sheet. Please make checks out to Scholastic Books or order online at www.scholastic.com. Use the following code: DZQVF. Please do not write the checks to Pine City Schools.
11. Supplies
Please keep your child supplied with pencils and make sure they have a homework folder. The student council will have a school store open one or two mornings a week, beginning in October.
12. Parent Volunteers
Parent volunteers are always appreciated. We can use volunteers weekly or as often as you are able to come in. Let me know if you are interested and we can set up schedule that works for you.
